Bleaching, in other words teeth whitening is the process of lightening the color of yellowed, stained teeth which has lost whiteness by external factors such as tea, coffee and cigarettes. Teeth whitening, which is applied for a better smile and mostly is a cosmetic solution, is a treatment that usually lasts up to 30-60 minutes and performed in two sessions.
Bleaching to make the teeth look more aesthetic and white, can light the teeth colour to 3-4 tons.

The patient can apply teeth whitening at home which is so-called “home Bleaching” process as well as so-called “Office bleaching” process with dentist control in the clinic in much shorter time and with advanced devices as mentioned above.
First of all, we have to underline that this practice, which is performed in the clinic under the control of the dentist, gives the dentist a chance to follow the procedure closely and to interference immediately in any problem. The teeth are photographed before the treatment begins. Photograph is important for a clearer understanding of the point reached at the treatment and the whiteness of the teeth. After a general examination, the teeth are cleaned from tartars and the treatment is completed in one or two sessions, which last for a maximum of 60 minutes. The dentist applies a special gel to the area to prevent the bleaching agent damaging the gums. The bleaching agent containing hydrogen peroxide is applied to the external surfaces of the teeth. There are 2 methods to activate this agent. The first is done by applying the led beam source to the area for 15-20 minutes. YAD laser is applied to each tooth for 30 seconds in the other method which is more effective. The bleaching agent is removed from the teeth after this process. In the previously canal treated teeth (non-vital), the bleach material will work from the inside is placed into the teeth and covered with temporary filling. The tooth remains in this way for a few days and this process is repeated until the desired whiteness is achieved.
There is no significant risk with tooth whitening. In some cases, sensitivities and mild irritations may occur in the gums. However, they are short-term and temporary. Bleaching should not be used during pregnancy because the effect of teeth whitening agents on fetus is not known. Teeth whitening can be delayed after pregnancy because it is a cosmetic procedure.
